Dental implants - the best solution for lost teeth

Have you lost one or more teeth and are considering replacement? Dental implants are a modern and durable solution that offers both functional and aesthetic benefits. At FK, we offer advanced dental implants that give you back your smile and chewing function without having to compromise on your neighboring teeth.

What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root made of titanium that is surgically inserted into the jawbone to replace a missing tooth. Over time, the bone grows around the implant and attaches it stably. A crown, bridge or prosthesis is attached to the implant, providing natural function and aesthetics. It is a permanent solution for missing teeth and functions as a natural tooth.

Why choose dental implants over bridges?

When replacing a tooth, the choice is often between a dental bridge and an implant. Here are some reasons why implants may be the best option for you:

  1. Preserves neighboring teeth - A traditional dental bridge requires grinding of the healthy neighboring teeth in order to attach the bridge. With a dental implant, you don't have to, and the surrounding teeth remain untouched and healthy.

  2. Natural aesthetics - Dental implants look and feel more natural than a dental bridge. They integrate with the jawbone and provide a smoother and more natural gum line compared to a bridge, which can have visible edges.

  3. Long-lasting solution - While a dental bridge often has a lifespan of 10-15 years, a dental implant can last a lifetime with proper maintenance. Implants also stimulate the jawbone and prevent bone loss, which can occur after the loss of a tooth.

  4. Easier maintenance - Dental implants don't require special cleaning techniques beyond regular brushing and flossing. A bridge, on the other hand, can be more difficult to keep clean, as food debris can accumulate under the bridge joints.

  5. Improved chewing function - A dental implant works in the same way as a natural tooth and provides a stronger and more stable chewing function compared to a bridge, which rests on the adjacent teeth.

How does the treatment work?

Treatment with dental implants takes place in several stages:

  1. Thorough examination and planning - We take an X-ray and possibly a 3D scan to ensure optimal placement of the implant.

  2. Surgical implant placement - Our highly experienced oral surgeon gently inserts the implants into the jawbone under local anesthesia. We use only the best and most recognized systems.

  3. Healing period - The implant needs a few months to integrate with the jawbone.

  4. Dental crown attachment - Once the implant has healed, a custom-made porcelain crown is attached to match your natural teeth.

Are dental implants right for you?

Most people with good oral health and sufficient jawbone can get dental implants. During a consultation, we will assess your situation and provide you with a personalized treatment plan. All our practitioners work with implant prosthetics, but two of our dentists, Vera and Ingrid, also have specialist expertise that enables them to create implant prosthetics with Helfo support where warranted.
